MTA TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
New York City is home to the largest transportation system in the world. The 2011 New York World Police & Fire Games carefully planned to host sporting events at venues conveniently located to public transportation. New York City and the tri-state area are accessible by bus, subway, train and railroad. Directions to all sporting and ceremony venues are located in the sports booklets, on our webpage and in your confirmation letter.
New York City Transit, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Metro-North Railroad are the most cost effective way to get around to our sporting venues. The cost to ride each varies by system and we recommend you view fares by clicking here.
For those athletes and their guests staying in New York City for at least 5 days we recommend purchasing a 7 day unlimited pass MetroCard. New York City Transit MetroCards will be sold at the Jacob Javits Convention Center during registration.
In addition, NYC subway, bus, LIRR & Metro North maps will be available at registration. Additionally, the TRANSPORTATION CENTER located inside the Jacob Javits Convention Center will have maps, directions and information for all athletes.
